Hello, I'm Rachel.

I am 25 and I live in NYC, but I grew up chasing tumbleweeds and hornytoads in New Mexico. I write things for a living, for now. I like the arts, photographs, old movies, the web, and the city, and tend to wonder how each influences the other. I thought this might be a good place to collect a few of the million images, sounds and ideas I get distracted by every day--sentimental though they may be. Welcome to my corner.

And if you just want to say hi, please do. I write back.

Crying Men

The first major US exhibition of Sam Taylor-Wood’s work closed on Sunday, a MOCA Cleveland show of her “Crying Men” series, for which she asked Hollywood actors to produce real tears, and then, you know, be photographed. A few examples are below, and I really like these. S T-W is all the rage in the UK, but its glad to see she’s getting some play stateside—she just had to call on A-List L.A. to do it, as one must with most things on these shores.

(ps thanks magohasblog for noticing these too)
