Hello, I'm Rachel.

I am 25 and I live in NYC, but I grew up chasing tumbleweeds and hornytoads in New Mexico. I write things for a living, for now. I like the arts, photographs, old movies, the web, and the city, and tend to wonder how each influences the other. I thought this might be a good place to collect a few of the million images, sounds and ideas I get distracted by every day--sentimental though they may be. Welcome to my corner.

And if you just want to say hi, please do. I write back.

Trying to do my part and hype this a little. Listen to 2. Yes, I am aware that this means I am bearing all my nerdiest core for the world to see. But I have to come clean sometime. I was in many a drama club in high school — played Winifred in Once Upon a Mattress and Golde in Fiddler on the Roof.  It is amazing I made it through adolescence alive. But actually, I find a secret theater background in most of the people I like now—a shared memory of teen years in boring towns, sitting in front of a green room mirror, warming your eye liner into a soft wax on the mirror lights and knowing this was the closest thing you had to being somewhere else for the moment. It was either get shitfaced at someone’s house on Friday or stay late at school for the tech rehearsal. Options were limited. I did what I could.
